Lingua Franca Implant (LFI): Implanted in a Traveler’s auditory nerve, the LFI takes any verbal language it hears and instantly translates it into their native tongue before passing it on to their brain. A connected implant translates their intended speech into the language they specify – watch out, the feeling of one’s lips, tongue, and vocal chords making movements and sounds that they didn’t intend can take some getting used to. The LFI can learn a new language in a little over eight hours, so in an unfamiliar timeline, a Traveler will need to expose it to language through either listening or setting it to receive radio broadcasts if in a tech-heavy space-time.

Radio: The LFI can operate as a radio, allowing silent, subvocal communication across the team. However, these radio transmissions can be picked up by other Travelers, so it is recommended to use only period communications unless you are certain that other factions do not have a presence in the area.
